Friday 02 March 2018 from 19:30 to 23:30
Wod are Jane Griffiths (fiddle) and Jim Penny (anglo-concertina).
Jane and Jim have spent the last six years exploring their shared passion for the beautiful music of Brittany. The result is Wod, a duo dedicated to playing Breton music for dance. Captivated by the subtle complexity of traditional Breton melodies, Jane and Jim seek to bring out the joyful connection between musicians and dancers that leads to what flute player Jean-Michel Veillon calls 'the common trance'.
Based near Oxford, Wod have played at dances from Cornwall to London and in 2015 were invited to play at Fest Noz in central Brittany. Respectful of tradition, they interweave their many influences and sense of playful experimentation into their music. They play individually and together in many other musical projects including making up two thirds of the folk band Owl Light Trio.
